Battery Health and Longevity

The EB3A uses a LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, which is known for its long cycle life (over 2,500 cycles to 80% capacity). To get the most out of it:

  • Avoid Extreme Discharges and Charges: While the battery is designed to handle a full discharge, it's generally recommended to avoid consistently draining the battery to 0% and charging it to 100%. Maintaining the battery in a "mid-state-of-charge" can extend its longevity.
  • Long-Term Storage: If you're not using the EB3A for an extended period (more than 3 months), charge it to 40-60% capacity before turning it off and storing it in a cool, dry place.
  • Periodic Full Cycles: To keep the battery meter calibrated, it's recommended to perform a full discharge and recharge cycle every 6 months.

Charging Optimization

The EB3A offers multiple charging options, and you can optimize each one for your needs.

  • Fast Charging: The BLUETTI App allows you to activate "Turbo Charging" mode, which can significantly reduce the time it takes to fully charge the unit from an AC wall outlet.
  • Solar Charging: To get the most out of solar charging:
  • Keep panels clean and unobstructed: Dust, dirt, and shade can dramatically reduce efficiency.
  • Angle panels correctly: Adjust the angle of your solar panels to face the sun directly throughout the day.
  • Use the right cables: Ensure you are using the correct gauge and length of cables to minimize power loss. The EB3A uses an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charge controller, which helps maximize the power harvested from solar panels.

  • Use the BLUETTI App: The app is a powerful tool for monitoring and controlling your EB3A. You can:
  1. Remotely turn AC/DC outputs on or off.
  2. Monitor energy usage and track patterns.
  3. Update firmware to improve performance and add new features.
  • Eco Mode: The EB3A has an "Eco Mode" that you can activate via the app or on the device itself. This feature automatically turns off the AC/DC outputs after 4 hours of low (≤10W for AC, ≤1W for DC) or no load, which helps save power and prevents the battery from being slowly drained on standby.
  • Turn off outputs when not in use: The inverter and DC outputs draw a small amount of power even when no device is connected. To prevent this "idle drain," be sure to turn off the AC and DC outputs when they are not in use.
  • Be Mindful of UPS Mode: While the EB3A has a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) function, using it continuously can lead to small charge/discharge cycles as the battery tops off from 99% to 100% repeatedly. If your goal is to maximize battery cycle life, consider if this mode is essential for your application.

  • Ventilation: Keep the EB3A in a well-ventilated area, especially while charging or under heavy load, to prevent overheating.
  • Storage Conditions: Store the unit in a cool, dry place within the recommended temperature range (14−113F/−10−45C). Avoid exposing it to extreme heat, cold, or moisture.

Yes.

Q17: How long will AC500 run my device?

Running time = battery capacity x DoD x η ÷ device rated power DoD: Depth of Discharge, η: local inverter efficiency. For AC500, both DoD and η are 90%. If you run a 1,000W microwave oven with a AC500 + B300K combo, the running time will be 2,764.8Wh × 90% × 90% ÷ 1,000W ≈ 2.2 hours
