Key Features

Battery Health and Longevity

The AC500 system uses a modular LiFePO4 battery (B300K), which is known for its durability and long cycle life (3,500+ cycles to 80% capacity). To maximize its lifespan:

  • Avoid Consistent Full Discharges and Charges: While the battery can handle deep cycles, it's generally best for long-term health to avoid constantly running it down to 0% or keeping it at 100% for extended periods. Keeping it in a mid-range state of charge (e.g., 40-80%) when not actively being used for a grid outage can help prolong its life.
  • Periodic Calibration: BLUETTI recommends a full discharge and recharge cycle every few months to calibrate the Battery Management System (BMS). This ensures the battery meter remains accurate. To do this, disconnect it from all charging sources, run a continuous load until it shuts off, and then fully recharge it without interruption.
  • Long-Term Storage: If you plan to store the system for more than a few months, it's best to charge the battery to around 50-70% capacity before turning it off and storing it in a cool, dry place.

Charging Optimization

The AC500 offers multiple charging methods, and you can optimize them for speed and efficiency.

  • Solar Charging: The AC500 has an impressive 3,000W solar input with a highly efficient MPPT charge controller. To maximize solar input:
  1. Over-paneling: You can connect more solar panels than the rated input. The system will regulate the power, but this ensures you get the maximum 3,000W input even on cloudy or low-light days.
  2. Solar Panel Configuration: Ensure your solar panels are wired correctly to stay within the recommended voltage range (12-150VDC) and current limits (15A max per DC port).
  3. Multiple Inputs: The B300K battery packs themselves have a solar input (with a separate DC charging enhancer) which you can use to add more panels and increase your overall solar charging speed.
  • Dual Charging: The AC500 supports an incredible 8,000W dual charging input by combining AC and solar power (requires at least two B300K batteries). This can fully recharge the system in as little as 1.5 hours. If you need a fast recharge, this is the most effective method.
  • Grid Charging: You can set the charging profile via the BLUETTI app to optimize for your specific needs, such as fast charging or a more gentle charge that prioritizes battery longevity.

Usage and Power Management

The AC500 system's advanced features can be managed to improve efficiency and convenience.

  • Smart App Control: Use the BLUETTI app to:
  1. Monitor in Real-Time: Track power in/out, real-time consumption, and battery status.
  2. Manage Charging Profiles: Adjust settings to prioritize charging speed or battery health.
  3. Update Firmware: Keep the system's firmware up to date to ensure optimal performance and access new features.
  • UPS Mode (Uninterruptible Power Supply): The AC500's UPS function is a core feature for home backup. When the grid goes down, the system seamlessly takes over, ensuring essential loads run without interruption. To optimize this, work with a qualified electrician to "balance the load" between the two phases if you have a split-phase system, ensuring no single AC500 is overloaded.
  • Eco Mode: If you're using the AC500 for a less critical, non-UPS application, you can activate "Eco Mode" to automatically turn off the AC output after a period of low or no load, preventing standby power drain.
  • Split-Phase System (for US/240V): If you're using two AC500 units to create a 240V split-phase system, proper installation by a licensed electrician is crucial. "Balancing the load" on each phase is essential for optimal performance.

General Care and Safety

  • Ventilation: The AC500 and B300K units have internal cooling fans. Ensure they are placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating, especially under heavy load or during fast charging.
  • Proper Installation: For a home backup system, professional installation is highly recommended to ensure all components are wired correctly and safely. This includes using the correct cables and accessories.
